Martin Bischoff’s roots date back to 1921, when lawyers Miller Murdoch and Virgil Crum partnered together to form a new law firm. Their offices were in the old Northwestern Bank Building (now the American Bank Building), then the tallest building in Portland, located on the north side of Pioneer Square.
Notable former partners throughout the years have included: Vern Dusenberry (joined in 1927), Cary Martin (1936), Herb Schwab (1948), Dave Templeton (1958), Lloyd Ericsson (1965), Jerry Bischoff (1968), John Langslet (1972), and Jon Hoffman (1981 – currently of counsel).
For decades, Martin Bischoff represented many of the most notable businesses, insurers, and individual clients throughout the Northwest, specializing in litigation involving products liability defense, aviation, insurance coverage, finance, and commercial litigation.
In 2015 the firm’s iteration then known as Martin Bischoff Templeton Langslet and Hoffman, LLP, disbanded, with several partners leaving to form a new firm – MB Law Group, LLP in 2016. In January of 2025, MB Law Group, LLP returned to its roots, reclaiming the Martin Bischoff name and legacy.
